Greece’s Athenian Sea Carriers has bolstered its chemical tanker orderbook in China. The Kyriakou family-controlled owner has exercised options for two 18,500 dwt vessels at Wuchang Shipbuilding Group taking its newbuilding programme at the yard to 10. These vessels will feature NOx-Tier III, EEDI Phase 3 compliance, and readiness for both LNG and methanol fuels. Athenian Sea Carriers’ newbuild series at Wuchang kicked off in March last year with four initial units costing about $30m each. Deliveries are expected to start in 2025. The company is currently listed as having one 2013-built VLCC. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
