Newbuilding Orders Dominating Headlines in Hellenic Shipping News 10/06/2026 M ore newbuilding orders were reported last week, while deals in the second hand market were fewer. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa commented that “strong number of contracts reported again this week in the newbuilding market, where tanker orders again dominate the scene: Worth to highlight, Dynacom signed an order for 12x 300,000 dwt VLCCs at Hudong-Zhonghua: these units will be the first of such size built at the yard. The total order is worth $ 1.4 bln, meaning 123 mln per ship, with deliveries stemming from 2028 to 2031. Greek Owner Venergy firmed up 2x 158,000 suezmaxes at Hengli Heavy Industries, which orderbook is now over 200 ships (21 firm units + 4 options have just signed during Posidonia week). Vessels are priced $ 86 mln each, for delivery in 2028. Buyers retain option for 2x more units”. Source: Banchero Costa In the S&P market, shipbroker Xclusiv said that “this week’s activity was focused on the Supramax and Handysize segments, with a mix of single transactions and en-bloc deals reported. In the Supramax sector, the “Tianjin Venture” – 54K/2009 Chengxi was sold for USD 12.2 mills, with delivery expected within July–August in Singapore/Japan range, while the “AE Mars” – 54K/2006 Yangzhou Dayang changed hands for region USD 9 mills via an online bidding process. On the Handysize sector, a notable en-bloc deal involved the OHBS sister vessels “Interlink Celerity” – 40K/2017 Taizhou Kouan and “Interlink Solidity” – 40K/2017 Taizhou Kouan, which were sold for USD 22 mills each. Finally, the “Sider Bear” – 40K/2013 Chengxi was acquired by Manta for USD 17.7 mills”. “The tanker S&P activity remained relatively quiet this week, with sales concentrated in the VLCC, MR and small tanker sectors.
