(ICO), part of the NYK Group, has started operating Belgium’s first shore power facility for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels at the Port of Zeebrugge. According to a statement released on 19 June, after a successful test phase in early June, the system was first used by a NYK-operated pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), marking both Belgium’s first commercial RoRo shore power operation and NYK’s first use of shore power for a PCTC at berth.
