Across the industry, even minor fuel quality concerns can quickly escalate into operational challenges, particularly given the complex chain of stakeholders involved in bunker procurement and use. In this loss prevention webinar, our expert panel explored the practical realities of managing bunker-related issues. Drawing on industry experience, the session highlighted how seemingly small deviations can lead to disproportionate consequences, including delays, operational disruption and increased costs. The discussion focused on how to assess situations effectively and determine when action is necessary. Attendees gained insights into balancing technical considerations with commercial realities, helping to avoid unnecessary escalation while protecting vessel performance and efficiency. Particular attention was given to identifying risk indicators, improving onboard and shoreside decision-making and maintaining operational continuity in the face of fuel-related challenges.
