The fire started at around 2:20 p.m., reportedly in the vessel’s hold or steering-gear compartment, and affected an area of about 80 square metres. Russian emergency services deployed 52 firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment. The blaze was contained by 4:31 p.m., with firefighters subsequently extinguishing remaining hot spots. No casualties were reported.
