Edinburgh-based renewables developer Nadara has taken over full ownership of four Scottish floating offshore wind projects from partner BlueFloat Energy. This covers the 1.8GW Bellrock and 900MW Broadshore projects, and two small-scale Sinclair and Scaraben projects with a capacity of 100MW each. According to reports, Nadara and BlueFloat will retain their stakes in the 1.5GW Stromar project off the Scottish east coast. The third partner in that project is Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted. Earlier this year, Quantum Capital Group, owner of BlueFloat, revealed it was in negotiations to sell its stakes in 10 offshore wind projects across Italy and the UK. All projects in the UK, apart from Scaraben, have been sold off. BlueFloat and Nadara also own six projects in Italy with a total capacity of 4.5GW. Quantum Capital Group has been trying to sell BlueFloat in its entirety since 2024 for around €500m (£421m) but could not find a buyer. In July this year, BlueFloat also abandoned the 2.1GW Gippsland Dawn offshore wind farm set to be built in the Bass Strait off the coast of Australia. The proposed $6.52bn (AUD 10bn) project was cancelled despite receiving major project status from the Australian government in November 2024. However, Quantum Capital said it was no longer commercially viable to invest in offshore wind.
