Australian energy major Woodside has promoted its acting chief executive officer, Elizabeth Westcott, to a permanent role. Westcott, who has served as Woodside’s acting CEO since the departure of Meg O’Neill in December 2025, has more than 30 years in the global energy industry. She will also serve as managing director. Meg O’Neill left the company to become the next CEO of BP, effective April 1, 2026, after Murray Auchincloss decided to step down as CEO and director. Since joining the company in June 2023, Westcott has led Woodside’s Australian operations, including the Scarborough energy project and Bass Strait operator transition, as the EVP and COO for Australia. She was previously the COO of EnergyAustralia, following a 25-year career at ExxonMobil working in Australia, the United Kingdom and Italy. “I am delighted with the appointment of Liz as Woodside’s next CEO and managing director.
