DHL Group said the updated Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net Zero Standard strengthens its approach to reducing transport emissions by recognising book & claim as a credible decarbonisation mechanism. The updated Version 2.0 of the standard was published in June 2026. It allows companies to use book & claim to reduce transport-related emissions when direct emission reductions are no longer feasible and appropriate safeguards are in place. DHL said its GoGreen Plus service already follows the principles outlined in the updated framework. The service enables customers to reduce emissions from shipments moving through shared transport networks by allocating the environmental benefits of low-carbon fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). According to DHL, recognising book & claim will help overcome practical and economic barriers to expanding the use of sustainable fuels across the logistics sector. The company said the approach can help customers reduce Scope 3 transport emissions and support progress towards their SBTi climate targets.
