The incident happened at 07:19 UTC on Sunday about 30 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah , Yemen , the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency said in a social media post. “A cargo vessel has triggered a distress alert stating that they are under attack by unknown armed assailants,” UKMTO added. “Authorities are investigating.” It remains unclear whether the incident was an act of piracy or linked to Yemen's Houthi movement, which has previously targeted commercial shipping in the region.
