Hapag-Lloyd will adjust its Inland Fuel Floater (Diesel) for inland container transportation in Italy from 21 September 2026 . The carrier attributed the change to continued volatility in international energy markets and fluctuations in diesel prices. Truck surcharge set at 16% The revised surcharge will apply to export and import inland haulage from and to Italy. For truck transportation , Hapag-Lloyd will apply a 16% fuel surcharge . Combined rail and truck transportation will face a 7.5% surcharge , while movements using rail only will carry no fuel surcharge . The adjustment applies to all container types. Different effective date for FMC shipments The new rates will take effect on 21 September for most trades. For shipments subject to Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations, the surcharge will apply from 9 October 2026 . For imports, the applicable tariff date will be based on the container’s pick-up from the port. For non-FMC exports, it will be based on the vessel departure date. For FMC exports, the gate-in-full date at the original port will determine the applicable tariff. The post Hapag-Lloyd adjusts inland fuel surcharge in Italy appeared first on Container News .
