Monaco-headquartered product carrier major Scorpio Tankers has confirmed the sale of its five-year-old LR2 vessel in a deal worth $73.5m. Splash reported last month that the Emanuele Lauro-led firm had offloaded the 109,000 dwt scrubber-fitted STI Lily in a deal with Indonesia’s state-owned shipping giant, Pertamina. New York-listed Scorpio did not reveal the buyer but said the New Times Shipbuilding-built vessel should exit the fleet in the fourth quarter of this year. Banchero Costa noted in its latest report that the tanker market sees many vessels available across all sectors and age spectrum. “It will be very interesting to follow close and asses Q4 activity,” the Genoa-based shipbroking group said. Earlier in September, Scorpio sold a pair of 2014-built MR tankers for a total price of $85m and also for delivery in the fourth quarter.
