Hong Kong’s Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has revealed itself as the charterer of recently ordered 13,600 teu series by containership tonnage provider Seaspan. The COSCO-controlled liner operator said in a stock exchange filing it would charter the newbuild for 15 years each and pay a total of about RMB11.2bn ($1.57bn). The Bing Chen-led Seaspan contracted Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for six ships with delivery by 2028. The first pair is scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2026. The 336-m-long newbuilds will be fitted with scrubbers and energy-saving devices and be future fuel-ready.
