AUTORIDAD DEL CANAL DE PANAMÁ EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENCY FOR OPERATIONS 3654-A (OPXI) v. 3-2-2011 ADVISORIES ARE AVAILABLE AT http://www.pancanal.com FOR ETAS OR DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH OUR OFFICES, REFER TO NOTICE N-3-2014 ADVISORY TO SHIPPING No. A-19-2014 August 21, 2014 TO : All Shipping Agents, Owners, and Operators SUBJECT: Miraflores Locks Lane Outage and the Transit Reservation System Beginning Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 0430 hours, through Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 0500 hours (8 days), the west lane of Miraflores Locks will be out of service for repairs to miter gates 106, 107, 118, 119 and 123; the sill of miter gate 123; and the pits of rising stem valves 430 and 436. Simultaneously, Gatun Locks will perform repairs to the return track on the North approach wall. During this period, relay operations will be conducted in lieu of the Merry-Go-Round lockages. As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System (OP’s Notice to Shipping No. N-7- 2014), Condition 2 will be in effect from Tuesday, August 26, 2014, through Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Applications for reserved transits while Condition 2 is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on Saturday, August 23, 2014. The booking slot available through the Auction Process and the slots available for regular vessels less than 300 feet in length will continue to be offered during this period. In addition, the Just-in-Time t ransit service slots will be reduced to one per direction while Condition 2 is in effect.
