Maersk has introduced seasonal changes to its Mediterranean–West Africa WAF7 service, extending the route to South Africa to support the country’s fruit export season. Under the revised rotation, WAF7 will now call at Tangier, Conakry, Pointe Noire, Port Elizabeth and return to Tangier. The extension adds calls at Pointe Noire in the Republic of the Congo and Port Elizabeth in South Africa. As part of the changes, the carrier has removed Freetown from the WAF7 rotation. The Sierra Leonean port will instead be served through a dedicated Northern West Africa Plus (NWAP) feeder operating between Tangier and Freetown. According to Maersk, the seasonal adjustment is designed to strengthen export capacity from South Africa while maintaining dedicated coverage for Freetown through the separate NWAP service.
