Norwegian offshore seismic vessel player Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded contracts for OBN surveys by Tullow Oil and ExxonMobil in Africa. Tullow hired Shearwater for deepwater OBN work in Ghana’s Jubilee and TEN fields. This will be the first such project in Ghana, following the deployment of the SW Tasman vessel and Pearl node OBN platform in the Ivory Coast and Angola. The vessel has been continuously deployed offshore West Africa since late 2024. The two-month survey for Tullow is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. “By delivering the first OBN project in Ghana and other surveys across this part of Africa, we are opening new geophysical frontiers,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater. The Jubilee and TEN fields have been central to Tullow’s operations for nearly two decades. This survey will enhance reservoir imaging and inform field development and production strategies. It follows a streamer survey executed by Shearwater in early 2025. The company also won an OBN survey with ExxonMobil off Angola. The two-month project is scheduled to commence during the third quarter of 2025. The project will utilise the same vessel and node system.
