Misurata Free Zone (MFZ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges to strengthen cooperation in port development and logistics services. MFZ Chairman Muhsin M. Sigutri signed the agreement with representatives of the Belgian port during a ceremony attended by Belgium’s Ambassador to Libya, François Dumont, and a delegation from Belgian ports and dredging company Jan De Nul. The agreement focuses on technical and consulting support, knowledge exchange, capacity building and digital transformation. The partnership will also promote cooperation in sustainable and clean energy solutions. Both parties will work together on port master plans, infrastructure projects and the development of specialized terminals, including a future bulk cargo terminal. MFZ said the cooperation aims to diversify port activities and improve the competitiveness of Misurata Free Zone Port. The agreement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Misurata’s role as a regional logistics hub. MFZ expects the partnership to support the future development of Libya’s maritime transport and logistics sectors by leveraging the expertise of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
