FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Laskaridis Shipping has entered a Joint Development Project (JDP) on 18 March with bound4blue and Bureau Veritas to evaluate the integration of suction sail wind propulsion technology across its fleet. As explained, the project aims to establish a credible and technically robust framework to assess how bound4blue’s DNV type-approved suction sails can be installed and operated on Laskaridis vessels. These sails generate propulsion by drawing air over an aerodynamic surface, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
