Saudi Arabia – Ballast water sample initiative at Saudi Aramco ports and terminals 8 August 2017 No.912 Download PDF (158KB) We have obtained the following information on the captioned topic from a shipping agent in Saudi Arabia, Inchcape Shipping Services: The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 (“BWM Convention”) will enter into force on 8 September 2017. Saudi Arabia has ratified BWM Convention. Before the entry into force of BWM Convention, all ships from international waters will be required to provide a ballast water sample and report via their local agent to Saudi Aramco Environmental Protection Department (EPD), when calling at Saudi Aramco ports and terminals. This new initiative will be implemented from 16 August 2017 and should be arranged through the vessels local shipping agent.
