Valenciaport awards the concession for a renewable fuel plant in Sagunto in Port News 22/05/2026 The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has approved an administrative concession for the construction and operation of a plant for the processing and production of renewable fuels for loading and unloading at the Port of Sagunto. The concession, awarded to FIVE NEXT USEOIL SOLUTIONS, SL – UCO TRADING SPAIN, SL, will have a term of 25 years and will involve an investment of 20 million euros for the construction and commissioning of the project, which will occupy an area of 27,800 square meters at South Pier 2 of the Port of Sagunto. The project involves the collection, storage, preparation, treatment, and subsequent processing of waste fats, such as used cooking oil and animal fats. This processing will result in advanced biofuels produced through a biomass conversion process. Two authorizations for the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) The APV Board of Directors also approved today two separate requests to provide commercial services for the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to ships via tankers in the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia. The two concessions are valid for six years and have been awarded to SHELL WESTERN LNG BV and AXPO IBERIA, SL. The commitment to alternative energy sources is one of the key elements of Valenciaport’s Net Zero Emissions Plan, through which the organization aims to lead the decarbonization of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia. Among other matters, the Board of Directors has also agreed to grant TERMINAL MARÍTIMA DE GRANELES DE SAGUNTO, SL a license to provide services for the loading, stowage, unloading, and transshipment of goods at the multipurpose terminal in the Port of Sagunto. The license will be valid for a period of six years.
