Northwest European gasoline margins hit four-year high in General Energy News 02/07/2026 Northwest European gasoline refining margins climbed 75 cents to $35.43 per barrel on Tuesday, reaching levels not seen since mid-2022 as supply concerns pushed margins higher. Shell sold approximately 6,000 metric tons of Eurobob E10 gasoline barges to Exxon and Varo. An additional 14,000 tons of Eurobob E5 gasoline barges changed hands, with Exxon selling to Gunvor and TotalEnergies. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called on gasoline retailers Tuesday to reduce prices as the U.S. celebrates its 250th birthday, backing President Donald Trump’s message with a warning: “we’re watching.” Japan’s domestic oil product sales dropped 5.2% in May compared to the previous year, reaching 1.98 million barrels per day. Gasoline sales declined 0.9% to 700,436 barrels per day. Russia may permit companies to temporarily produce and import lower quality gasoline and diesel, Kommersant daily newspaper reported Monday, as the country addresses a fuel crisis following Ukraine’s attacks on its refineries. India reduced windfall taxes on diesel and aviation turbine fuel exports while increasing the duty on petrol exports, according to a government order.
