East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT), part of International Container Terminal Service Inc.’s (ICTSI) operation in Indonesia, has opened for business this month. This is only one of a host of new terminals all opening across the giant archipelago, Southeast Asia’s largest country. Construction of EJMT began in March 2023 and is equipped to serve diverse trade needs. With a 300-meter quay line, a deepwater draft of 13.5 meters, a 500-meter swinging basin, and handling equipment for bulk, project, and containerized cargo, the terminal is a versatile addition to Indonesia’s port infrastructure. The terminal also boasts two of the largest post-panamax mobile harbour cranes in East Java. “The new terminal will provide another option for our customers in Lamongan, Tuban, and as far as Central Java, serving both their domestic and international trade requirements. Backed by a deepwater berth and the largest mobile harbour cranes in East Java, our customers can now deploy larger vessels, allowing them to load more cargo and reduce their overall costs per unit by calling at the terminal,” said Patrick Chan, EJMT CEO. Adding further value, the I-Sentra industrial park developed by Jakamitra is situated adjacent to EJMT and offers space for new investments with direct and easy connectivity to the port. “With new international liner connectivity, our oil and gas clients can import materials directly to Lamongan Shorebase, reducing both transit time and logistics costs.
