Shih Wei Navigation has ended close to a decade-long order drought by signing up for ultramax bulk carrier newbuilds in Japan. The Taiwanese bulker owner and operator of around 30 ships has contracted Oshima Shipbuilding in Japan through Sumisho Marine for a pair of 64,000 dwt units. The newbuilds, costing up to $39m each according to Taipei filing, will be delivered in 2026.
