Japan P&I Club gave a presentation at INTERCARGO’s semi-annual meeting 28 May 2024 Tweet To the Members On 20-21 May 2024, the semi-annual meeting of INTERCARGO was held at Kaiun Club in Tokyo, Japan. As part of the Presentation Session on the 21st, William Turner, our Senior Legal Adviser delivered a presentation, which was highly praised. To ensure the safe operation of vessels, International Group of P&I Clubs (IG) collaborates with the maritime industry, including INTERCARGO. Our club, as the sole Asia representative of IG, participated in the presentation. Summary of the presentation Title of Presentation: Legal Issues Relating to the Transit of the Red Sea In light of the increasing risks of vessels operating in the Red Sea, William Turner delivered a presentation focusing on the application of BIMCO’s 'VOYWAR' and 'CONWARTIME' war risk clauses as well as the English case law relating to the transit of dangerous areas. There was an active Q&A session. Additionally, a brief explanation on insurance coverage was also given.
