Newport has completed the deployment of M2INTELLIGENCE’s GVMS remote monitoring system across its fleet, giving shore-based teams direct access to live and recorded visual information from onboard operations. The fleet-wide rollout creates a common monitoring environment across Newport’s vessels. Shore teams can remotely follow activities in critical areas, review incidents and operational events, and use onboard visual information to support inspections, troubleshooting and communication with vessel crews. Visual data connects vessels with shore teams GVMS is designed to bring onboard visual information directly into daily fleet management. Instead of relying solely on reports or calls from vessels, authorised personnel ashore can review operations as they happen or access recorded footage when investigating an event. According to M2INTELLIGENCE, the system can also support training and collaboration between vessel and shore teams by providing a clearer picture of onboard activities. For Newport, the deployment provides the same monitoring capabilities throughout its fleet, allowing shore personnel to access vessel operations through a consistent platform. Neither the number of vessels covered by the rollout nor the value of the project was disclosed. “We are particularly pleased to see forward-looking shipping companies such as Newport recognising how quickly the way vessels are monitored and managed is evolving,” said Thomas Asproudis, Co-Founder, Innovation & Business Development at M2INTELLIGENCE. Deployment lays groundwork for AI monitoring The GVMS installation also provides the infrastructure required for M2INTELLIGENCE’s M2AI technology, although the company did not say that these AI capabilities have been deployed across Newport’s fleet. M2AI is designed to combine camera information with vessel and operational data. The technology can then support automated detection and real-time alerts, while generating operational and compli
