The shipping industry’s green tech supplier Yara Marine Technologies (YMT), recently sold to Geneva-based Okapi Supply Trading Advisory, has been rebranded and revealed a new leadership team. The company, now named Manta Marine Technologies, will be led by CEO Ina Reksten (pictured), who previously served as the deputy CEO and COO. Outgoing CEO Thomas Koniordos has been appointed as the chair of the board while former chief sales officer Aleksander Askeland will be the new CFO and Richard Engelhart Bjercke will be the new CCO. “All our products are well known for their ability to help make vessels greener. Our new team will build on this success and ensure that we help our sector move closer towards a low and zero carbon future,” said Mohamed J. Ndao, the Okapi Supply Trading Advisory CEO. “In addition to developing future maritime technologies like wind propulsion, we will continue to support our customers with lifecycle services and ensure the same high-quality performance in existing products. [We will] be at the forefront of maritime technologies to help the maritime industry meet the IMO’s GHG targets,” the newly appointed Manta Marine CEO, Ina Reksten added. Manta Marine offers a portfolio of green technologies spanning from vessel optimization and wind-assisted propulsion to emissions abatement and shore power. Splash previously reported that the company, formerly an offshoot of Norwegian fertiliser giant Yara, was sold to Okapi for an undisclosed sum earlier this month. Explaining the rationale for the YMT divestment, Yara said its strategy is to focus its investments on its core business of sustainable food solutions and clean ammonia.
