Subsea Integration Alliance (SIA), consisting of Subsea 7 and SLB OneSubsea, has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract by Equinor for the Bay du Nord development offshore Canada. The FEED award moves the project from concept definition to detailed engineering, shaping development ahead of the final investment decision. The contract builds on the long-term strategic collaboration agreement signed with Equinor in 2024, which enabled early joint concept studies for Bay du Nord and other complex subsea developments. During FEED, the two companies will collaborate with Equinor and the wider supply chain to mature the subsea architecture, optimise execution strategies, and align on engineering, procurement, and delivery decisions. This integrated approach is designed to reduce complexity, improve schedule and cost certainty, and ensure Bay du Nord is positioned for efficient execution as the project advances towards FID. “Bay du Nord is a landmark deepwater project for Equinor and for the Canadian offshore industry. Entering FEED is a decisive moment, where early engineering choices have a lasting impact on project value and executability,” said Olivier Blaringhem, CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance. The Bay du Nord project consists of several oil discoveries in the Flemish Pass basin, some 500 km northeast of St. John’s. The first discovery was made in 2013, followed by additional discoveries in 2014, 2016, and 2020. The development will involve at least eight subsea drill centres tied back to an FPSO capable of producing 200,000 bopd. The project is being developed by Equinor and its partner BP.
