Image Credit: Somtrans Antwerp -based shipping firm Somtrans ' new LNG bunkering vessel has been launched at China ’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering . The 20,000 m3 is set to join the firm’s fleet in January 2027 , the company said in a LinkedIn post on Saturday. “From the first plans to seeing the barge enter the water, this project has involved years of expertise, teamwork and dedication from many people,” the company said in its post. Earlier this year, the company had taken delivery of an LNG bunker barge for supply in Belgian and Dutch ports. As more LNG-fuelled ships enter the global fleet, demand for LNG bunkers is expected to grow. The global LNG bunkering fleet is currently made up of 91 ships , with another 51 ships expected to join by 2029 , according to classification society DNV data.
