FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Based on the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s 2025 edition of the Accident Report for Commercial Vessels, seven people died in accidents on passenger ships, cargo ships and fishing vessels last year – two more than 2024. As informed, accident statistics for 2025 show that both ship accidents and personal accidents have increased. A total of 1,197 incidents on commercial vessels were registered, 663 accidents and 534 near misses. Out of those, 312 accidents and 277 as near misses occurred in during the first half of the year. The number of accidents is the highest in several years, and represents an increase of 16.5 percent, compared to 2024. At the same time, the number of near misses decreased by 10.3 percent.
