Image Credit: Nereida Maritime battery technology company Nereida Energy has raised NOK 32 million ($3.4 million) in a private placement backed by Norwegian investors including Grieg , Eviny , Nysnø and Nye Aasen . Founded in 2025 , Nereida develops battery systems for ferries, wellboats, service vessels and offshore ships, it said in an email statement on Friday . Its offering includes a proprietary control system and software platform designed to optimise battery performance, safety and cybersecurity. The company said the funding will be used to strengthen its organisation, further develop its battery and energy storage technologies, and support strategic growth initiatives. “Batteries are increasingly becoming commoditized, so it is the management and control system that truly differentiates solutions and determines how much value you get out of the batteries,” Geir Bjørkeli , CEO of Nereida Energy AS, said. "We are seeing significant market interest, and these funds enable us to capitalize on these opportunities.” Nereida is headquartered in Bergen and also has offices in Fosnavag and Oslo .
