The incident On April 3, 2025, about 2145 local time, a crane was being used to lift a wire reel from the back deck of an offshore supply vessel in Bayou Lafourche, Port Fourchon, Louisiana, when the crane’s hoisting wire parted, causing the reel to drop onto the vessel’s main deck. There were no injuries, and no pollution was reported. Damage was estimated to be $3.8 million.
