The incident was reported by military authorities eight nautical miles northwest of Kumzar , Oman , at 22:45 UTC on Monday , the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency said in a social media post yesterday. “UKMTO has received information from military authorities that a vessel is on fire,” it said. “The cause of the fire has not been verified at this time.” Several ships have come under fire in the past few days in the Strait of Hormuz as the US and Iran continue to exchange fire. The US Central Command announced on Monday that it carried out the ninth consecutive day of strikes against Iran on Sunday. “The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said.
