The guidance provides: • a summary overview of the hazard and risk profile of such incidents in People’s Republic of China (PRC) waters; and • loss prevention recommendations to avoid collision with fishing vessels taking into consideration the PRC Maritime Safety Agency’s, Safety Guideline for Preventing of Collision Between Merchant Vessels and Fishing Vessels in Chinese Coastal Waters in both English and Mandarin. Furthermore, Members should take note that the fishing ban for the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea and areas of the South China Sea that went into effect on May 1, 2021 will expire on September 1, 2021 as noted in the Alert of April 23, 2021, People’s Republic of China (PRC): Navigational Awareness Before and After Imminent Local Fishing Bans.
