China urges EU to ease high-tech export controls, expand trade in World Economy News 28/03/2026 China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao told European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic on Thursday that China is willing to actively expand imports from the European Union, according to a statement released by Wang’s ministry on Friday. During the meeting held on the sidelines of a World Trade Organization gathering in Cameroon, Wang expressed hope that the 27-state bloc will relax controls on high-tech exports to China and refrain from politicising trade issues. Wang also stated that China hopes the EU will view its development rationally and objectively, properly address frictions and differences, and jointly promote the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. The Chinese Commerce Minister raised concerns about some EU members abusing industrial policies and violating subsidy discipline, according to the ministry statement.
