Image Credit: BGN Commodities trading firm BGN has launched its first retail marine bunkering business in the US . The new operation will provide HSFO, VLSFO and MGO to vessels calling at ports across the US Gulf Coast , the firm said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday . To support the launch, BGN has partnered with Houston -based Centerline Logistics Corporation , chartering two bunker barges, Jackson Eades and MGI 2100 . BGN said the business will initially focus on refuelling its fleet of about 40 owned and chartered LPG carriers , giving the company greater control over fuel procurement and vessel operations. It also plans to market bunker supply services to third-party shipowners trading in the Gulf Coast . "The US Gulf Coast is one of the world's most important shipping and energy hubs, making it the ideal location to establish our first retail bunkering operation," Harry Thwaites , Head of Fuel Oil, Feedstocks and Marine Fuels at BGN, said. “Going forward, we will look to expand into other major international ports as we continue to strengthen our marine fuels trading platform globally."
