Image Credit: WinGD Swiss marine engine developer WinGD has completed factory acceptance testing of its dual-fuel ammonia engine in China . The engine will be installed on a 210,000-dwt dry bulk carrier being built for CMB.TECH , it said in a statement on its website on Monday .  The vessel is the first of 10 bulk carriers on order for the company. Testing was carried out at CSSC Engine Co . and witnessed by classification societies Lloyd's Register , American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and China Classification Society . According to WinGD, the engine uses high-pressure ammonia injection with a small amount of pilot fuel and delivers performance comparable to conventional diesel engines. The company said the engine can achieve more than a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when operating on ammonia compared with diesel mode. WinGD has already secured orders for 40 dual-fuel ammonia engines across a range of vessel types, highlighting growing industry interest in ammonia-powered shipping as the sector works towards decarbonisation. The first vessel fitted with WinGD's ammonia-fuelled engine was delivered to maritime transportation firm  Exmar last week .  Ship & Bunker News Team To contact the editor responsible for this story email us at [email protected] Also in the News Maritec-Naias Finds Elevated Catfines and Acid Numbers in Si
