Long a closed shop for overseas operators, the port of Hamburg is being tipped to welcome a third foreign liner investment. Alphaliner understands that the French ocean carrier CMA CGM and the German terminal operator and logistics group Eurogate have agreed to join forces in the development of a new container terminal at Germany’s largest port. The terminal is Hamburg’s Westerweiterung, which would create two new megamax-ready piers of 450 m and 600 m in length and about 2m teu of new handling capacity. Other overseas shipping lines that have moved to invest in Hamburg port in recent years include COSCO, Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), and Grimaldi. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsCMA CGM Germany
