Port of Antwerp-Bruges began works in mid-September 2026 on the renewal of quays 231 and 239 and the reconfiguration of the intermediate inlet dock in the Hansa Dock. The project will deliver rehabilitated quay infrastructure and additional concession land to support future port activities, with works scheduled to run until the end of January 2028. The inlet dock between quays 231 and 239 will be sealed with a new quay wall and subsequently backfilled, unlocking additional concession land within the Hansa Dock area. Concurrently, the existing quay walls at quays 231 and 239 are being rehabilitated and fitted with new facing walls. The project marks the first application of the Early Contractor Involvement approach by Port of Antwerp-Bruges, with the ECI joint design and preparatory phase now completed and execution transitioning to on-site works. Works are being carried out in phases to minimise disruption to surrounding port activities and maintain accessibility to adjacent concession areas throughout the construction period.
