Wah Kwong’s fuel arm Venture Energy has moved to secure green methanol supply, signing an agreement with Shanghai Shenji Energy as the group builds out its position in low-carbon marine fuels. Under the deal, Venture Energy will source ISCC EU-certified green methanol from Shenji, with first deliveries planned in the first half of 2026. The product is compliant with the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive and aimed at shipowners facing tighter emissions rules, the company said. Backed by Wah Kwong Maritime Transport’s shipping network, Venture Energy is positioning itself as a link between Chinese production and global bunkering demand, particularly across key Asian ports. The methanol will be produced from biomass feedstocks including municipal waste, crop residues and livestock manure, offering lower lifecycle emissions for shipping customers. The fuel is expected to support compliance with schemes such as the EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime. The partnership also goes beyond supply, covering feedstock sourcing and certification, with both sides aiming to build a more standardised and traceable trading framework for green marine fuels. Venture Energy said it will provide end-to-end logistics and market access for producers looking to reach international buyers, while Shenji brings biomass conversion expertise and certified output. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsHong Kong Methanol
