This report provides an overview on main points and results of the agenda items discussed. Highlights - amendments to Annex VI of MARPOL (Resolution MEPC.278(70)), that mandate a global data collection system for fuel oil consumption (items 3 & 6). - adoption of the revised Guidelines for approval of ballast water management systems (G8) (item 4). - "1 January 2020" as the effective date of implementation for ships to comply with 0.50% m/m sulphur content of fuel oil requirement (item 5). - approval of the roadmap for developing a "Comprehensive IMO Strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships" (item 7).
