Greece’s Horizon Tankers is set to expand its MR fleet with up to six newbuilds in China. The Anthony Comninos-led owner has contracted four 50,000 dwt chemical/product carriers at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard, with deliveries starting in the second half of 2026. The yard has revealed no price, but shipbuilding sources suggest $45m and upwards per ship. The contract includes two options for one additional unit, exercisable at a later date. According to shipbuilding databases, Piraeus-based Horizon last booked newbuilds in 2014 when it ordered a pair of MRs at South Korea’s Sungdong. The company, set up in 2007, lists a fleet of four suezmaxes and eight MR2s on its website. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
