Image Credit: Maersk Container shipping firm A.P Moller-Maersk has safely moved one of its own vessels and a time-chartered vessel through the Strait of Hormuz and out of the Persian Gulf following security assessments. The transits were completed late Wednesday and early Thursday in coordination with the company's security partners, with no issues reported, Maersk said in an advisory on Thursday. The company's owned vessel involved in the transit was the Maersk Baltimore . Following the latest transits, Maersk said it has three vessels remaining in the Gulf and plans to carry out one additional transit through the Strait of Hormuz at a later stage. “With the departure of Maersk Baltimore and the time-charter vessel, we currently have three remaining vessels in the Gulf; and at a later stage, we will pursue one additional transit through the Strait of Hormuz,” Maersk said. A vessel was attacked off Oman yesterday , leading the IMO to temporarily suspend its evacuation plan in the Strait of Hormuz. According to AIS tracking data on Friday , only a few vessels were seen transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with some sailing closer to the Iranian coast.
