Product tanker giant Hafnia has confirmed the sale of a batch of older vessels as part of its ongoing fleet renewal drive, validating recent market talk about multiple disposals. The BW Group-backed owner has agreed to sell 10 tankers to external buyers, with the ships currently pending delivery. The package includes four LR1 tankers — the 2008-built Hafnia Shinano, Hafnia Seine, the 2009-built Hafnia Yangtze and the 2010-built Hafnia Zambesi — along with two MR tankers, the 2013-built Hafnia Leo and the 2012-built Hafnia Crux. The company has also lined up the sale of four handy tankers – the 2016-built Hafnia Torres and the 2015-built trio Hafnia Sunda, Hafnia Malacca and Hafnia Magellan. Brokers estimated earlier this month that the vessels were sold for more than $200m in total. The disposals follow earlier sales completed in January, when the company delivered the MR tankers Hafnia Libra and Hafnia Phoenix to new owners. Those transactions had been agreed in late 2025. Chief executive Mikael Skov said the sales were part of a continued effort to modernise the fleet by divesting older tonnage while adding newer vessels. During the same period, the company took delivery of the dual-fuel MR tanker Ecomar Gironde, the final ship in a series developed through a joint venture with France’s Socatra. Hafnia reported net profit of $109.7m for the fourth quarter, including $9.5m in gains from vessel sales, bringing full-year earnings to nearly $340m.
