File Image / Pixabay Hydrogen technology firm H2SITE has secured a €3.4 million grant from the Norwegian government enterprise Enova for a project to develop and test a commercial-scale ammonia-to-power system for ships. The HydraNord Power project will focus on a 700 kW system that converts ammonia into high-purity hydrogen onboard vessels, the firm shared on LinkedIn yesterday. It is designed to produce up to 1 mt/day of hydrogen for maritime fuel cells. Development and integration are planned for 2027 , with commissioning targeted for early 2028 . The system will be installed and tested at Energy House in Stord, Norway. Project partners include Equinor, Höegh Autoliners, Breeze Ship Design, Sustainable Energy Catapult Centre, Alltec and Maritime CleanTech. H2SITE, founded by Andrés Galnares , said the funding will help take its ammonia cracking technology from pilot projects towards commercial applications in shipping.
