Costamare Inc. reported lower earnings for the second quarter of 2026 while strengthening its balance sheet through new financing agreements totaling US$1.3 billion and maintaining high fleet employment levels. For the second quarter, the company posted adjusted net income from continuing operations of US$75.1 million, or US$0.62 per share, while net income from continuing operations attributable to common shareholders reached US$77.4 million, or US$0.64 per share. Liquidity stood at US$423 million at the end of the quarter. Costamare concluded US$920 million in new financing agreements to refinance existing debt and has secured commitments for a further US$331 million, expected to be finalized during the third quarter. The company said the refinancing will reduce interest costs and, once completed, leave it with 21 unencumbered vessels. Costamare said 97% of its containership fleet is fixed for 2026 and 94% for 2027. Contracted revenue has reached approximately US$6.1 billion, with a TEU-weighted average charter duration of 5.9 years. The company also agreed to sell the Porto Kagio and Porto Germeno, with the transactions expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2027. Estimated proceeds, after debt repayment, are US$54.5 million. Chief Financial Officer Gregory Zikos said recent refinancing activity means the company expects no debt maturities until 2030. He added that charter rates are firming across most vessel sizes, while the company’s leasing platform, Neptune Maritime Leasing, has funded or committed investments in 50 shipping assets w
