Ebola virus disease in West Africa (No.18) 24 September 2014 No.698 We hereto attach the updated circular issued by South American P&I Correspondents about the several preventive measures taken by the South American countries (the updated parts are shown in red). The summary of the change is as follows; Argentina A protocol has been issued by Health Authorities stating that all vessels coming from affected countries should be surveyed by Health boarder inspectors, either before piloting or at arrival to port in accordance to risks analysis. Venezuela Vessels reporting any call at ports from countries declared on alert for Ebola must go first to an anchorage special zone in order to be inspected by Health authorities who will decide to put her in quarantine or allowing her berthing. It has been alerted the attention to a rapid spread of the Chikungunya virus in Venezuela.
