U.S. Marines board Iranian oil tanker in Gulf of Oman in International Shipping News 21/05/2026 U.S. Marines boarded an Iranian-flagged commercial oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday after the vessel was suspected of attempting to violate a U.S. blockade, according to U.S. Central Command. The tanker, identified as the M/T Celestial Sea, was intercepted while traveling toward an Iranian port. American forces conducted a search of the vessel before releasing it and instructing the crew to change course, the military statement said. U.S. Central Command confirmed the boarding operation took place Wednesday but provided no additional details about the nature of the suspected blockade violation or the tanker’s cargo.
