Maersk will update its Intermodal Fuel Fee for truck transportation across five Southeast European markets from 7 September 2026. The revised fees will apply in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro and Serbia. Their implementation will be based on the cargo delivery date, and the charges will remain in effect until further notice. Fees to undergo bi-weekly reviews Maersk will review the applicable fuel fees every two weeks, replacing the previous monthly review cycle. The carrier may adjust the charges according to changes in market conditions. Maersk attributed the updates to the recent increase in global energy prices. The company also pointed to the security situation in the Middle East and its effect on worldwide fuel availability. According to Maersk, approximately 20% of global fuel passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Current developments have therefore increased costs across inland and intermodal transportation markets. The carrier said the temporary adjustments would help maintain service continuity, protect cargo and secure sufficient transport capacity from its suppliers.
