FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Diaplous Maritime Services has issued a security alert confirming an ongoing piracy incident involving a bulk carrier transiting the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC) in the Gulf of Aden, approximately 110 nautical miles northeast of Bosaso, Somalia. The vessel was proceeding at between 11.7 and 12.0 knots before suffering a sudden loss of propulsion at approximately 06:47 UTC. Its speed dropped sharply to 1.1 knots and then to around 0.4 knots, leaving it adrift. By 07:43 UTC, the vessel was reported drifting at approximately 0.8 knots.
