JP Morgan’s Bermuda-based shipowning affiliate Global Meridian Holdings has been linked to an order for three suezmax crude carriers at South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries. The contract, disclosed last week, is worth about KRW400bn ($268m), of about $89.3m per 157,000 dwt ship, according to the yard. Deliveries are expected between the fourth quarter of 2028 and the first quarter of 2029. The deal adds to a growing list of newbuilding contracts in the suezmax segment this year, with shipbrokers estimating that about 40 vessels have already been ordered in 2026. That compares with around 62 ships contracted during the whole of 2025. The order also marks another project linked to JP Morgan in the shipbuilding market. Earlier this year, Samsung Heavy disclosed a separate contract for two LNG carriers tied to the same group of interests. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsUnited States
