FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin UK MAIB has issued an investigation report into an incident where a trawler suffered flooding, later capsizing and sinking after a suspected pipe failure. The incident On 21 February 2024, a 15.94m prawn trawler experienced uncontrolled flooding while operating in the Firth of Lorn. Two crew members were evacuated to an attending lifeboat, which took the vessel under tow. The vessel later capsized and sank, prompting the remaining two crew members to abandon ship into the sea, from where they were recovered uninjured by the lifeboat.
